YOU WILL BE JOINING UPON YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY, BUT WE SHALL PROVIDE ALL REQUIRED GUIDANCE.

Dear friends & family,

We warmly invite you to this upcoming Peyote ceremony in Mexico, held by Wixarika Marakame, traditional Mexican shamans and healers. In the traditional Wixarika ceremony we sit up all night around the Tatewari, the Grandfather Fire, and talk with him, we listen to the songs and prayers of the Marakame and eat Hikuri or Peyote. This helps us to awaken self-knowledge, connect with our higher self and find clear answers, healing and guidance that we need. For all of us who have been sitting with Peyote, it has been a life changing and eye-opening experience.

WHAT IS PEYOTE?

Peyote is a small, button shaped cactus which is native to Mexico and some North American states. Native people have been using Peyote in spiritual ceremonies for thousands of years. It is also known as Hikuri and Kayumari, the Blue Dear, that has lead Wixarika people to discover the medicine. Essentially it is a plant medicine that enables us to connect with our higher selves and receive the guidance and healing that is required.

WHAT TO BRING FOR THE CEREMONY

· Yoga mat, blanket, sleeping bag or other things to sit on and be comfortable. Keep in mind that the ceremony is in the jungle and you want to be as comfortable as possible.

· A cup and spoon for your medicine.

· A white candle in a glass jar to keep it burning throughout the night.

· Comfortable clothes and layers – it gets chilly during the night and you also want to dress to protect yourself from mosquitoes.

· Mosquito repellent.

· Water and juice to drink, light snacks for after the ceremony.

· Items to create your personal altar – flowers, fruit, crystals, anything you feel connected to, family photo to be blessed.

· Offerings for the main altar – cacao, tobacco, amaranth, seeds, flowers, fruit, chocolate – everything will be shared at the end of the ceremony.

· 5 coins (5 Mexican pesos) for offering.

BEFORE THE CEREMONY

· It is recommended to prepare your body before the ceremony.

· Stop eating meat, drinking alcohol and avoid having sexual intercourse for at least 2 days before the ceremony.

· On the day of the ceremony, do not eat after 5pm. You may have some light juice or fruit before the ceremony.

· Prepare your intention for the ceremony.

DURING THE CEREMONY

· The ceremony starts around 10pm and finishes after the sunrise around 7am.

· The whole night we all stay around the fire, ideally not laying down, but sitting up.

· The traditional music will be played throughout the night, some people might dance.

· Marakame will be repeating some traditional prayers once in a while to facilitate the process.

· At some point there will be a Crystallization session – some Marakamaes will do the healing using the power of the great creator. They collect all the bad energy from the attendees and materialize it in the form of crystals, which later on will be released to the Earth.

AFTER THE CEREMONY

· You may feel very tired after the ceremony and it is recommended to go home and have a good sleep.

· Drinking a lot of water is recommended.

· You will have to take back the candle that you brought to the ceremony back home and burn it for the next 5 nights. Place the candle in the place where you sleep and light it when you sleep. This process helps the integration work as it continues in the dreams. Observe your dreams.

· Most important is to remember that ceremony is only 50% of the work, while other 50% is integration into your life as you understand yourself deeper.
